Billy Reuben. When Sawyer was born, he was a little jaudiced. I don't know if that's the correct way to use that word...I think you can have jaundice. Anyway, he was a tad on the yellow side because of too much biliruben in is system. You feed, feed, feed, and they poop, poop, poop all the biliruben out. The day after going home from the hospital with our new kiddo, we had to return to the hospital to get his biliruben levels checked. This had been a topic of conversation for a few days. Pat and I would joke that Sawyer was probably wondering who this Billy Ruben guy is and when he was going to meet the him. I was thinking of this because another friend of ours had a baby who also is a little jaundiced. By the way, we're so insanely excited about the two new boys and also a new little girl to meet when we go back to the states.
This week, another mystery character has entered Sawyer's life. Rosie Ola. Sawyer woke up with a fever Wed. It was a middle of the line fever, maybe 101 degrees. By that night it was 104 and while Pat and I know fevers are the body doing its job, we also live in a country where there are bonus diseases and they always start with a fever. To be on the safe side, we walked across the street to the hospital to at least have Sawyer looked at. The sleepy old pediatrician told us "high fever!" and examined the screaming Sawyer. Normally, Sawyer almost enjoys getting examined. Even if it's a struggle to get him to sit still the rest of the time, the actual examination is a time when Sawyer sits quietly and pays attention. Obviously, he was not in the mood to be looked at. So the pediatrician told us Sawyer's tonsils were swollen and that he needed antibiotics. He also had some nurses give Sawyer a most vigorous sponge bath in order to get his fever a little lower. Of course, he prescribed everyone's favorite candy, antibiotics. The next day, before starting the antibiotics, we went to the US Embassy's med unit to have a second look, and...no swollen tonsils, don't take the antibiotics. That was pretty much what we thought before. We were able to rule out the scary stuff like dengue fever which left us with the easy stuff, roseola. That's something my aunt had mentioned to me before and I was glad that's all it was. Three days of a fever, one no-fever but super fussy day, and today a nice rosy rash. At least Sawyer gets to meet Rosie Ola face to face.
If you want to see what Thai people do with pizza and hear a little Thai language, you need to check out:

Yes, we have ordered the dancing shrimp pizza, and yes, there are "shrimps" throughout the crust with the tails sticking out in the air. And you mean to tell me you don't put salmon steaks on your pizza? If you want one half of the pizza to have one topping, and the other with a different topping, choose the "two pizza in a pan" option...that makes perfect sense.

Oh boy... aren't fevers scary with babies?
At least you didn't meet Thai Foid.
