Strawwy Cups

Here is our very first bean bag. I almost bought orange when I realized that it was almost fluorescent and that it would be blinding. As it is, Pat is regretting giving me the okay to buy our car seat in "cowmooflage." It's a little loud, but it's fun.
The bean bag and too many other items came to our home thanks to the mind-numbingly enormous (and don't think for a minute that I would use the dreaded awful other version of enormous that begins with letter G) housewares fair at IMPACT Arena just a little outside Bangkok. This was the biggest sale I've ever been to. Perhaps because just because I'm female, there were certain chemicals my brain released that said, "Move quickly, buy, buy, faster, buy more stuff, it's a good deal, you'll regret not buying this months down the road, BUY BUY!" Maybe women give off certain "sale" pheromones that do this same thing. I did restrain myself and we aren't in debt. The kid section was the best, by far. I got a set of foam floor mats, A-Z, for less than $15 and they are really fun. Sawyer's Christmas present is taken care of, too. I got stuff for my little babies in Maryland who I can't wait to see. The idea behind this fair, from what I've heard, is that it's all Thai-made goods that are going to be sent out to other countries and marked up considerably.

Sawyer update: We're still cruising. Sawyer is working on standing by himself but isn't quite there. He will scale the walls if it's a short distance. Sawyer's dancing still cracks us up. We have no idea where the lamaze breathing came into the dance...neither Pat nor I dance while breathing "hoo haa hoo haa."

Words Sawyer can say:

uh oh (he sometimes gives himself away by saying this before he drops something)

most things are dada or da-ee

da-dy=baby

ta-ee=teddy

ne ne ne (about 50 times)=no no no OR woman, you are crazy if you think you're putting that diaper on me OR woman, you are crazy if you think you're wiping me up after breakfast

Sawyer is making a couple animal sounds. He growls for tiger/lion. He snorts for a pig, but sometimes he'll just wrinkle his nose (you can figure it out mommy, do I have to do everything for you?). He also does a high pitched "whoo haa ha" for a monkey, which is my favorite.

We're still using sippy cups but have introduced strawwy cups...they have built-in straws and don't require you to tilt your head completely back in order to finish the drink. I'm liking these a lot.

Sawyer is wearing mostly cloth diapers now. They are expensive (the ones that we buy after all the peer pressure from playgroup!) but they save us a ton in disposable diapers and I'm liking them more and more. Of course, when we go on short trips or our trip to the U.S., we'll just use disposables, and we use a disposable when Sawyer sleeps at night. At this time, I still have not found a diaper that has not leaked from Sawyer's night-time sleeping. Very often, especially if his sleep is longer than 11 hours, he wakes up soaked and that just stinks. I understand if you think we're completely out of our minds using cloth. It's not for everyone but I'm loving his cushiony marshmallow butt with cloth!
