As Pat may have told you: Toy Car 1, Sawyer 0

The picture says it all, a thousand words, but I always have about a thousand more.

I could give lots and lots of details. Like about how we had the wrong foot x-rayed because we couldn't tell which foot was actually injured. Or about how we had to go in the next day to find out there was no sprained right ankle but a broken left leg. How the x-ray guy almost x-rayed the wrong leg again, the nurse wrote down the wrong weight for Sawyer so that he was almost given the wrong dose of sedative. I could share almost blowing a gasket because in an effort to let mom and dad take the wheel, a nurse watched us struggle while Sawyer spewed red sedative all over us, with no help from the nurse. I could share just how long it actually took to get Sawyer enough sedative to make him fall asleep so the doctor could put the cast on. But the bottom line is Sawyer is fine and we finally got it right. The doctor did a fantastic job with the cast (at least, I think he did) and Sawyer woke up this morning free of grogginess from the drugs and ready to learn to crawl again. He will probably end up learning to walk with this thing since he'll be wearing it for a week.

How it happened: Mommy and daddy were at Chatachuk Market and Sawyer was with Arlyn. He slipped on a car and rolled his foot. Of course, we asked the doctors if her story lines up with the way his leg broke and it did. I know this from experience because the second time I broke my leg, it was actually from rolling my foot while stepping off a bed. It's just a greenstick fracture, which means it's not broken all the way through and it's not as serious as you might think. The doctor didn't even think he needed a cast in order for the fracture to heal properly. However, he did think it would make Sawyer more comfortable. That makes me feel better about the fact that his cast went on about 24 hours later than it would have if we hadn't gotten so confused as to which leg was hurting him. What a trooper. After waiting for the second set of x-rays, I remember telling Pat that I would be very surprised if there was actually a fracture seeing as he was having so much fun flirting with the ladies in the hospital. That's my tough guy, though :) And he's awake now...
