Our Building

Pat (among other rude people) gave me crap about the picture I had up, so I changed it. Love the positive feedback, guys.
Today is the first day I woke up feeling 100% better after catching what Pat had. I'm such a gluttonous person that, despite my stomach telling me not to, I tried to eat like a normal person throughout the last week. Each time I ate I regretted it. To quote someone I know from Waldorf...So be it. What have you.

Here is a picture of Sawyer in the pool. This was his third time in, but the first time he really splashed and had fun. Mom and dad had him in swimming trunks, a shirt, a hat, and a gallon of sunscreen, and I was still a little paranoid about him getting burned. For some reason, the pool is always cold. It's not too cold, but on a windy day it's tough to get your whole body in the water without letting out a yelp. The pool is on the seventh floor and has no shade from the sun, so I assumed it would always be on the warm side. There's some scientific reason for it, you know why, email me and let me in the loop. Anyway, the water is very refreshing.

I've also included some pics of our sixth floor play area. It's all concrete, what used to be a parking area. They created one patch of grass, but kids never play on it. Animals aren't allowed to use it as a potty, either, so it's not getting much use. There are a few swing sets and other playground equipment. There's a nice wooden porch swing that Sawyer seems to like. Most of the floor is surrounded by potted plants of all sizes. I think they're used around the pool, and as decoration around the building. I spotted some spider plants and might be sneaky and "borrow" some clippings. Sawyer loves rolling around in his stroller through the plants. He's definitely an outdoor kind of guy and could stare at trees for hours if you let him. It really relaxes him.

Thursday we're hosting Thanksgiving for a few friends. One couple who have a newborn are coming along with a turkey and some sides. Another friend whose husband is out of town will be joining us. My only problem is the number of desserts I want to make versus the number of desserts we need. Paula Deen and I are developing a love/hate relationship. I'm partly blaming Pat's parents because they bought me the Paula Deen cookbook, making it that much easier for me to pour over recipes and fantasize about making incredibly fattening, delicious food. If only I hadn't tried to eat my way through my stomach bug, maybe I wouldn't feel so bad about having a colossal dessert menu. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, guys!!!
